GLOBAL CITIZENS UNITE! INTRODUCING: TGC COLLECTIVE
International Nonprofit Promotes Global Citizenship through United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals
WASHINGTON, D.C. - TGC Collective is a socially responsible, international nonprofit promoting
knowledge and awareness of global citizenship. Its mission is to inspire active citizens who create a more equal, fair, and sustainable planet. Lead by Executive Director, Annika Adams, the organization proudly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice.
"Public service is one of the most rewarding, fulfilling experiences. Establishing an organization with global reach and a focus on sustainable development was an inevitable step in creating a socially conscious and responsible lifestyle," says Adams. Her personal volunteerism extends to countries such as Croatia, Cuba, and Slovenia. She heads back to Cuba this fall for the organization’s inaugural “See the World, Serve the World” program. See the World, Serve the World promotes sustainable travel, which not only includes eco-friendly practices and environmental responsibility, but addresses social and economic community impact.
In addition to travel and service, TGC Collective achieves its mission by awarding scholarships and grants. The “Fund the Future” program contributes to helping others build a strong foundation through funding opportunities for individuals who demonstrate outstanding leadership and community service.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, ANNIKA ADAMS
Adams is a former titleholder with extensive pageantry experience, so it’s no surprise the organization incorporates pageantry. The Citizen's Pageant serves as a change agent by appointing male and female Ambassadors to serve in each country. Ambassadors champion global citizenship guided by the United Nations’ SDGs. The annual pageant produces an International Ambassador to global issues worldwide. “I believe partnering pageantry with the SDGs is a unique way to support the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” says Adams.
Adams' background is a combination of entertainment and management with a heart for people and a passion for doing good. She holds a Bachelor of Professional Studies from The University of Memphis with a focus in Theater and Dance, as well as a Master of Science in Management and a Master of Science in Project Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. A former dancer for the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies, Annika has performed and choreographed for several professional organizations. TGC Collective is not Adams' first foray into entrepreneurship. In 2011, after relocating to Washington, D.C., she founded Revere Event Planning & Design, a boutique event management company specializing in custom, high-quality, detail-oriented events.
What’s next for TGC Collective? Partnerships. Adams is excited to work with like-minded partners and brands across the globe that are dedicated to socially conscious living and sustainable development. For more information visit tgccollective.org.
